Last updated: September 10, 2026

Abelove for TUSD Board of Education 2026, District 5 ("the Campaign," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy describes how we collect, use, and share your personal information when you use abelovefortusd.com or participate in our text messaging program. By using our website or opting in to our text messages, you consent to this policy.

Information We Collect

We may collect the following when you interact with our website, sign up for updates, volunteer, or donate:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • ZIP code or mailing address

  • Donation and payment information (processed by our payment vendor; we do not store full card numbers)

  • Any other information you voluntarily provide, for example through a volunteer or contact form

We may also collect standard technical information automatically, such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Communicate with you about the campaign, including updates, events, volunteer opportunities, and requests for support

  • Process donations and comply with California campaign finance disclosure requirements

  • Improve our website and outreach efforts

  • Respond to questions or requests you submit to us

Text Messaging Program ("the Program")

By providing your phone number and opting in through our website or another sign-up method, you agree to receive recurring automated text messages (SMS/MMS) from Abelove for TUSD Board of Education 2026, District 5, sent using an automatic telephone dialing system, to the number you provided or any other number you designate. Messages may include campaign updates, event and volunteer reminders, and requests for donations. These message types are collectively "the Program." Consent to receive Program messages is not a condition of any donation or purchase.

Message frequency: Message frequency will vary and may increase or decrease over the course of the campaign. We may also change the number or short code messages are sent from.

Cost: Message and data rates may apply. Contact your carrier for details on your plan.

Carrier disclaimer: Not all mobile devices are supported, and messages may not be deliverable in all areas. Neither we nor our messaging vendors or supported carriers are liable for delayed or undelivered messages, or for the Program becoming unavailable due to a change in your carrier's coverage, software, or service.

Opt-out: Reply STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT to any Program message at any time to opt out. You'll get one confirming message and then receive no further texts from that number. These text replies are the only way to opt out; a verbal request or a request sent by email or another channel will not remove you from the Program. If you're subscribed under more than one number or short code, you'll need to opt out of each separately.

Help: Reply HELP to any message, or email [insert here], for support. Note that texting HELP or emailing us is not a way to opt out; use one of the opt-out keywords above for that.

Accuracy: By signing up, you confirm the information you provide is accurate and that you're authorized to use the phone number given. We may refuse Program access if we believe information provided is false or the sign-up was for an improper purpose.

No Sale of Mobile Information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your phone number or SMS opt-in status with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share phone numbers and related information only with vendors who help us send and manage Program messages (texting platforms, telecom carriers, and similar service providers), and only so they can deliver messages on our behalf.

How We Share Other Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:

Vendors and service providers who help operate the campaign (for example, email platforms, payment processors, and data management vendors), who may use it only to provide services to us

Government agencies, where required by California campaign finance law, including public disclosure of certain donor information to the Fair Political Practices Commission

Political party committees, allied campaigns, or coalition partners, only where you've separately agreed to that sharing, for example through a joint canvassing or slate program

Law enforcement or others, if required by law or needed to protect the rights, safety, or property of the campaign or others

Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you provide, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Our website and Program are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we've collected information from a child under 13, we'll delete it as soon as possible.

Scope

This policy governs abelovefortusd.com and the Program described above. It doesn't apply to any other relationship you may have with us outside these contexts.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our website or the Program after an update means you accept the revised policy.
